Did You Know?
Vance Grannis’ grandfather was a founding member of the
Iowa firm of Grannis and Converse, formed in 1903. The firm moved
to South St. Paul in approximately 1906 but, having been licensed
in Iowa, its lawyers needed to obtain credentials to practice
law in Minnesota. The South St. Paul firm was established by 1908.
Paul Hauge and George Hoey
were the first attorneys in Eagan, forming the firm of Hauge and
Hoey in 1973. Paul Hauge had previously practiced with Eagan Township
Attorney Luther Stalland under the name of Stalland and Hauge.
When George Hoey became a First District Court Judge, the firm’s
name changed to include new members, ultimately becoming Hauge,
Eide, Anderson & Keller.
The current firm was formed
in 1990 when Vance Grannis, Sr., Vance Grannis, Jr. and Michael
J. Mayer, members of the South St. Paul law firm of Grannis & Grannis,
joined with the Hauge, Eide, Anderson and Keller firm. The merged
firm’s name was Grannis, Grannis, Hauge, Eide, Anderson & Keller,
P.A. The firm’s name was subsequently shortened to Grannis & Hauge,
P.A.
Four members of the firm,
Ward Anderson, Michael Dwyer, Virginia Dwyer and David Keller,
graduated together from the University of Minnesota Law School
in 1980.
