Personal Injury, Motor Vehicle Accidents,
Medical Malpractice, & Wrongful Death
At Grannis & Hauge, an attorney will answer your initial phone call if you have a question about a potential
personal injury, traffic accident, medical malpractice or wrongful death case. Personal meetings can be arranged either at
our offices or at your home or office to discuss your potential case. Our attorneys can assist you in determining:
• What insurance benefits am I entitled to?
• How do I document my injuries?
• How long do I have to bring a claim?
• Who will pay my medical bills if I cannot?
• Who is responsible for compensating me for my injuries and losses?
Automobile accidents have special insurance considerations. If you are injured in a motor vehicle accident, your own insurance
policy’s "No-Fault" benefits provide up to $20,000 in medical expenses and $20,000 in wage and income losses (or replacement
services if you are a homemaker). Those benefits are payable regardless of who is at fault in the accident. In addition, each
vehicle in Minnesota is required to carry a minimum of liability insurance, to pay for damages caused by the driver’s negligence.
If the vehicle lacks insurance or lacks adequate insurance, your own policy or that of a host driver may provide uninsured or
underinsured motorists’ benefits.
Personal injuries can also occur on commercial premises, while visiting another home, and while in the care of a health care provider.
Examples of cases handled by Grannis & Hauge:
A
A 24 year old woman suffered catastrophic injuries when a panel truck drove through a red light and hit her car on the driver’s
side. A settlement with a present value in excess of $5.75 million enabled her parents to remodel their home and add a handicapped
accessible apartment, move her out of a long-term facility and into the apartment, and employ round-the-clock health care
providers.
A pedestrian suffered severe leg injuries when she was knocked down and dragged under a passenger van driven by a government
employee. The government agency defended the claim on the grounds that our client was not in the crosswalk when the impact
took place. The case settled for more than $400,000 in mediation.
A baby developed cerebral palsy as a result of oxygen deprivation when a C-section was too long delayed. A settlement will pay
damages over the life of the child to provide for a handicapped-accessible home, van, full medical coverage, and a variety of
special medical and educational services for the child and her family.
A young wife and mother died after emergency room personnel
failed to diagnose a bacterial infection.
A 19 year old man suffered damage to his sciatic nerve, when pain medication was improperly injected during an emergency room
visit. A permanent limp resulted. The case was settled by mediation.
